How to Import Your Menu into RevYoMe with AI

Step-by-step guide to importing your menu into RevYoMe with AI - from a website, photo, spreadsheet, or pasted text, reviewed before it goes live.

Setting up a digital menu by hand — typing every item, price, and description one by one — is the single biggest reason shop owners put off going digital. RevYoMe's AI Import solves this: open AI Import from the /app sidebar, pick a source, and the AI reads your existing menu for you. You then review exactly what it found before anything is saved to your shop.

What AI Import Actually Does

AI Import extracts structured data from whatever you give it — shop information, location, contact details, opening hours, and your menu or service catalog (name, category, description, price, and more) — and stages it on a review screen. Nothing is written to your live shop until you approve it, and any field you leave unchecked is skipped, so an import can never silently overwrite something you already set up manually.

The Four Ways to Import Your Menu

  • Website URL — paste the link to your existing website or an online menu page and the AI reads it directly.
  • Photo or PDF — snap a picture of a printed menu, price list, or chalkboard (or upload a PDF), and the AI reads the text and layout.
  • Spreadsheet — upload a CSV, XLSX, or ODS file for a clean, structured bulk import — the best option for large catalogs.
  • Pasted text — copy and paste a price list or item list directly into a text box.

All four sources feed the same review-and-apply flow, so you can mix methods — start from a spreadsheet for your core catalog, then use a photo import to add a few seasonal items later.

Step-by-Step: Importing from a Spreadsheet

  1. Open AI Import in your RevYoMe dashboard sidebar.
  2. Choose the spreadsheet source. If you don't have a file ready, download the built-in CSV template first — it already has the correct column headers (name, category, description, price, pricing mode, unit, barcode, SKU, audience, minimum quantity, stock on hand, low-stock threshold, dietary tags, allergens) and one example row to copy.
  3. Fill in your items, save the file, and upload it.
  4. Wait for the extraction to finish, then review each detected item on the review screen.
  5. Uncheck anything you don't want applied yet, then confirm to apply your selections.

Using the template header names (rather than your own labels) gives the mapper the cleanest possible match, which means less manual cleanup afterward. See our AI menu import overview for how the photo and URL sources compare for smaller menus.

What Happens with Large Catalogs?

If you select a large number of items to apply at once, RevYoMe processes the bulk catalog insert in the background instead of holding up the page — you'll see a progress state while it finishes, and you're free to navigate away and come back. This keeps a 200-item spreadsheet import just as smooth as a 10-item photo import.

Re-Running an Import Later

You don't need to start from scratch every time your menu changes. AI Import stays available in the sidebar after onboarding, and your last several successful or partially-applied attempts are saved — you can reopen a past attempt and review it again without spending another import credit. This is useful right after a price change, a seasonal menu swap, or once you've finished setting up stock tracking and want to backfill stock levels for existing items.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will an AI import overwrite my existing menu?

No. Every extracted field appears on a review screen first, and only the fields you leave checked are applied. Anything you uncheck is skipped entirely.

Which import source gives the best results?

For a handful of items, a photo of a printed menu works well. For a full catalog with prices, stock levels, and categories, a spreadsheet using the built-in template gives the cleanest, most complete result.

What should I do after importing my menu?

Once your catalog is in place, connect it to QR code ordering so customers can browse and order directly from their phones.

Can I import more than once?

Yes — you can re-run AI Import any time your menu changes, and past attempts remain available to revisit without using another credit.
